José Mateo Martínez

José Mateo Martínez, PhD in English Philology, is a Full Professor at the University of Alicante. He teaches in the Faculty of Philology (Translation and Interpreting) at the University of Alicante. He has been Director of the Department of English Philology at the University of Alicante and Director of the IULMA (Interuniversity Institute of Applied Modern Languages) formed by the universities of Alicante, Valencia, and Jaume I of Castellón, among other academic and management positions. His research work is developed, on the one hand, in the field of lexicology and specialized terminology with the publication of several dictionaries on the language of the stock exchange, banking, economics and finance, footwear and natural stone and, on the other hand, in the areas of linguistics (pragmatics and communication), translation and didactics of foreign languages with several books and articles published in these fields. He has been co-director of RAEI (Alicante Journal of English Studies) for twenty years. He has been the editor of the series of monographs of the Department of English Philology of the University, a member of the editorial board of national and foreign journals, and has participated as director and researcher in several terminology projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the University of Alicante.
