To commemorate World Endometriosis Day, that takes place every March 14th, here's an example of a terminological record related to endometriosis, one of our main terminological research fields. During this month the DIGITENDER team is working on this topic thoroughly so that our project gives it visibility not just in March, but all year long.

We have recently made some changes to the BDT terminology records on menopause. Among other things, some definitions and contexts have been modified to reflect gender sensitivity and to intervene in the definitions and contexts shown to represent women in a more empowering light.

Within the framework of the VI International Congress Science, Feminism and Masculinities (CICFEM 2024), held on March 1 and 2, 2024 in Valencia, Chelo Vargas presented her paper "Reconceptualization of menopause: A critical analysis of metaphors in the English and Spanish biomedical discourse". Vargas' presentation focused on analyzing how metaphors in the biomedical field, both in English and Spanish, shape the negative social perception of menopause.

La reciente publicación en Panace@ confirma el impacto positivo de DIGITENDER, que se consolida como un PROYECTO MONITOR, pues vemos cómo está abriendo nuevos caminos en la generación de ideas y en la divulgación de conocimientos (lingüísticos, discursivos, terminológicos) sobre la salud de las mujeres. Es inspirador ver cómo otros proyectos, como Neotermed, están reorientando sus objetivos para abordar temas que requieren ser visibilizados, como la menopausia y la endometriosis. Este número es un buen testimonio del papel vital y necesario de DIGITENDER en el impulso de un cambio significativo en la divulgación de temas de salud femeninos. Nos queda mucho camino por recorrer, así que ¡cualquier colaboración es bienvenida!
