Miguel Ángel Campos Pardillos is a lecturer in English at the University of Alicante. His teaching involves mainly Legal English and English-Spanish Translation, although he also teaches other modules related to language for specific purposes and English lexicology and vocabulary.
He obtained his certification as a sworn translator in 1994 from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and holds a Masters’ in Translation and a PhD cum laude from the University of Alicante. He has participated in a number of projects related to translation and language learning, and his research focuses on legal language and translation and lexicology. He has authored two English-Spanish specialized dictionaries, such as Diccionario de términos inmobiliarios inglés-español / español-inglés (2003), Diccionario de Términos de Derechos Humanos (2008), and is the joint author of Diccionario de términos de marketing, publicidad y medios de comunicación, inglés-español, español-inglés (1999), Diccionario de términos de turismo y de ocio, Inglés-Español, Spanish-English (2006), of the latest, updated edition of the Diccionario de Términos Jurídicos / A Dictionary of Legal Terms (2012), and he is also one of the authors of the reference handbook for English-Spanish translation of US Legal English, El inglés jurídico norteamericano. He has also written a number of articles in indexed journals and book chapters on the same topics, and is also an active participant in international conferences on English for Specific purposes and a member of scientific committees.
Regarding cooperation with other bodies, he has participated in a number of training projects organized by the Spanish Council of the Judiciary, the Italian Consiglio della Magistratura, the Academy of European Law and the European Judicial Training Network (where he has been a regular participant since the launch of the “Linguistics” project in 2011). As a result of this latter activity, he has co-authored most of the handbooks published by EJTN as training materials for European judges and prosecutors.
