Nereida Congost Maestre, PhD in English Studies, is a lecturer in English for Specific Purposes, Specialised Translation and Didactics in the Department of English Studies at the University of Alicante. She currently teaches on the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and on the Master's Degree in English and Spanish for Specific Purposes in the subject "English in Medicine and Health Sciences". She also tutors bachelor's and master's degree final projects in the field of biosanitary translation. She has been a guest lecturer on the Master's Degree in Translation at Queen's University Belfast, and has given seminars on "English of Health Sciences in a plurilingual area" and, in non-official teaching, she is course coordinator and responsible for the subject "Communicative and discursive strategies in doctor-patient communication in English" on the course "Expert in International Patient Assistant". As a researcher, she participates in several translation projects of health and quality of life questionnaires with the Departments of Health Psychology and Health Sciences of the University of Alicante, as well as in other national and European research projects on medical lexicography and specialised language teaching, among others. It also participates in research projects with the Inter-University Institute of Applied Modern Languages (IULMA) and in teaching innovation networks. She also collaborates in the R&D project Programming of a medical lexicographical treasure in the Spanish language and its exploitation, based on medical dictionaries from the 19th and early 20th centuries. She has held the position of Academic Secretary (2013-2016) and Deputy Director (2016-2019) of the Department of English Studies at the University of Alicante. At present, she is the secretary of the Faculty of Humanity and Arts.
